Course Change
22 August 2006 - We learned last week that due to delays on a park bridge project our traditional course will most likely not be available this year. This would involve a two mile section along the bay side, miles 8 & 9, not being available. A new alternate course, which was measured by a USATF certifier on August 20th, will utilize a 1.2 mile section of a side walk (Sidewalk Trail) that cuts straight across the interior of the park. This change along with other minor alterations will keep us entirely within the park and add no additional elevation change. A map of this new alternate course is available here. 21 August 2006 - The Erie Marathon at Presque Isle is please to announce the appointment of TSC Graphics as our official race photographer. TSC has specialized in running photography for over 28 years, and is one of the pre-eminent running photographers in the country.
By Wednesday after the race, each runner’s images will be posted online at www.runphotos.com. lemon-lime. - GU gels will be offered in Plain and Vanilla at one location for the Half
Marathon and 2 locations for the Full Marathon.
Marathon & Half Marathon Courses
22 June 2006 - The Marathon Course & Half Marathon for September is unchanged from the past two years. It is still the two-full-loop course used last year. The half marathon in July has a course change due to construction. This will NOT affect the Erie Marathon at Presque Isle.
17 May, 2006 - Dr. Todd S. Shatynski, MD has come on board as the medical director for the 2006 Erie Marathon at Presque Isle. Dr. Shatynski will be completing his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Saint Vincent Sports Medicine in June, 2006. He has provided coverage for Mercyhurst College, Mercyhurst College North East and Northwestern High school during his sports medicine fellowship. In July, 2006, Dr. Shatynski will be practicing at East Harbor Primary Care and Saint Vincent Sports Medicine.
As an avid athlete himself, Dr. Shatynski has been a multi-sport competitor, having completed 3 Ironman distance triathlons including the world championship in Hawaii in 2000 and the U.S. championships in Lake Placid in 2004. Other sports interests include track and field, football, basketball and hockey.
Originally from Albany, NY, Dr. Shatynski completed medical school at VCU-MCV in Richmond, VA and residency at Saint Vincent Family Medicine.
We welcome the addition of Dr. Shatynski to our staff and we're sure you will see the evidence of his expertise on Sept. 10, 2006!
