LAW DAY 5k RUN/WALK

SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 2005 - Meet at the gazebo in Perry Square. Race begins in front of the Erie County Court House. Individuals and families welcome!

WHOM DOES THIS RACE BENEFIT?: Attorneys & Kids Together (AKT)*, the Erie County Bar Association's (ECBA's)community project that offers support and assistance in many ways to students living in homeless shelters and The Erie Runners Club Scholarship Fund.
COURSE: The 5k will take you from the front of the Erie County Courthouse along West 6th Street, turning on Cherry to 5th Street, west on 5th to Cranberry, back up to 6th, and return along 6th to the Courthouse.
REGISTRATION & PREMIUM: Pre-registration on or before April 20th includes an awesome long-sleeved tee shirt. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. You must pre-registered to be guaranteed a shirt - orders cannot be taken after the race.
After April 20th, no premium. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.

* Top male & female lawyers in walk & run
* Top runners in Clydesdale (male over 200 lbs) and Athena (female over 140 lbs.)

ATTORNEYS & KIDS TOGETHER (AKT) PROGRAM - The Erie County Bar Association's signature community project benefits students living in homeless shelters in the following ways:
- Development of study rooms in each shelter, complete with necessary furniture/computer/printer.
- Backpacks - any student arriving at a local shelter in need of a backpack is provided a new JanSport backpack.
- Winter coats - ECBA members purchase new winter coats for kids in the shelters
- School uniforms - ECBA members purchase school-appropriate clothing (slacks, polo shirts) for students in the shelters
- Mentoring program - attorneys, and sometimes their families, pair up with a family in a shelter to participate in some very fun activities.
- Books for students - shelter representatives are able to stop by the ECBA office once every month and pick up two free books for each child/student currently in the shelter.
- Senior Fund - assistance to high school seniors who otherwise could not afford their cap & gown, prom attire, class ring, yearbook, senior pictures, etc. Juniors can apply for assistance with their SAT fees.
